Road Trip

So my friend Sean and I went on a road trip today. I just had the urge to get the 'Dub out on the road and drive a bit......

You want to know something?
I-25 through Larimer County has to be the worst road I've ever driven. For one thing, considering it's an "Interstate" the lanes are horribly narrow.
Another thing, it's incredibly overcrowded.
And finally, the roadway itself is just amazingly shitty. Uneven road surface is just the beginning of the problems this road has.
I hit an expansion joint and, I'm not joking, I thought I was going to take the front end off the car.
I just don't understand why the roads are so freaking bad in the county considering how much money the county spends on them. The Roads dept, accounted for more funds last year than any other agency in the county, including the Sheriff's Office.
Where is it all going? Though I can't prove it, I suspect they're spending it all on hookers and blow.

Anyway, we went to the Apple Store (in Boulder) and I spent an hour drooling over the iPhone.
Since they reduced the price, I can afford one now, and since my contract with Satan Verizon runs out in November, I can justify one too.

Anyway, I was thinking of all the cool things I could do with the phone, and I thought, it'd be nice to be able to email to-do reminders to myself.
As it happens I can do that now. I already knew that, but it had been so long since I had done it I forgot.

You can send yourself an email, and it will be received as an SMS tet message, just by emailing your phonenumber@yourprovi.der
Like below. Just substitute "phonenumber" with the number of the phone you want to send the text message to.

T-Mobile phonenumber@tmomail.net
Virgin Mobile phonenumber@vmobl.com
Cingular phonenumber@cingularme.com
Sprint phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
Verizon phonenumber@vtext.com
Nextel phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com
I have no idea what the format is for ATT. Once I get my iPhone though and find out, I'll post it up here with the rest.

If by some chance you don't know the provider of the number you wish to email, you can use Teleflip.com. Simply type in the number, the message, and teleflip will automagically deliver the message to the correct carrier! All you do is email the message using the same format as above. phonenumber@teleflip.com

Remember that cellphone users are usually charged, either directly or by plan for incoming SMS messages, so please, don't abuse it.

Perspective

Found THIS post on the Onion.
It kind of puts things in perspective for me.
Of course it's The Onion, so take it as it is intended. Satire y'know.

But still and all...
